Founded in 1858, Sherborne Prep is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years. Sherborne Prep prides itself upon its strong community where all pupils are supported to become the best version of themselves. The school is situated in the beautiful town of Sherborne nestled in 12 acres of grounds with views overlooking Sherborne Abbey and rolling Dorset hills. Sherborne Prep sits between senior schools Sherborne School and Sherborne Girls and benefits from enhanced curriculum and co-curricular links and opportunities.

Academically strong, Sherborne Prep follows the PSB curriculum and was deemed ‘excellent in all areas’ in its ISI Inspection in 2023. Known for its music and sporting prowess as well as broad co-curricular programme, around half of pupils gain scholarships to the wealth of strong independent senior schools in Dorset and across the UK. Sherborne Prep has a direct train to and from London Waterloo.
In July 2024, the two charitable trusts that own Sherborne Girls, Sherborne Boys, Sherborne Prep and Hanford, formally merged into one charity called the Sherborne Schools Group – a unique and exciting educational opportunity in the UK for girls and boys aged 3–18.

The school has its own Nursery within the Pre-Prep, but children also join the Pre-Prep from further afield. Both the Nursery and Pre-Prep overlook a beautiful orchard with its own outdoor classroom, and an interactive playground with a variety of exciting toys and games for the children to play with. Looked after by their dedicated Nursery staff, one a qualified teacher, the children flourish and grow in confidence, joining many activities, often with the older Pre-Prep children.
